Implant sizes: Why you should take your surgeons advice

Choosing what size breast implants you want can feel a little overwhelming. You might have previously done some research or wanting the same look as someone you know, however, it is important to understand that your surgeon will guide you and recommend what is best for you based on several factors.

Read below to find out more on breast implants and why listening to your surgeon is important.

What does CCs mean when it comes to implant sizes?

Breast implants are measured in cubic centimeters, or CCs not in cup sizes. An example of breast implant size: 350cc.

CCs (cubic centimetres) refers to the volume of liquid or gel within the breast implant. CC is also the same as grams, so 350cc is also the same as 350g!

When you’re deciding between available implants, you will be asked to pick a CC, level of projection and shape (round or anatomical).

Do CCs look the same on everyone?

A breast enlargement looks different on everybody due to existing breast tissue and the patient’s body shape and type which influence the final look. For example, a 350cc implant may look large on a woman with a smaller frame, but may only add a small amount of volume on someone taller with broader shoulders.

Why should I listen to my surgeon?

During your surgeon consultation, your surgeon will do a physical examination of your breasts to check the skin quality, breast tissue and to take your measurements. This is a crucial aspect of your consultation because this is how the surgeon determines what implant is best for your frame to achieve the aesthetic appearance you have requested such as natural or fake. Your surgeon is the expert in his field and their recommendations are tailored to you!

The worst thing you can do is compare yourself to others when picking your size as everyone is different. The same implant size and profiles can look completely different on different people. See below for examples!
