How to measure your bra size
We would always suggest heading to a professional bra fitter, but when that isn't possible, why not give it a try yourself!
To get started, all you need is a large mirror and a soft tape measure. Stand up straight in front of the mirror with your top off and wear a non-padded bra.
Firstly, to find your band measurement you need to measure around your ribs, just below where your bra fits.
Then find your cup measurement by placing the tape measure around your back and the fullest part of your breasts.
Round both measurements to the nearest whole number.
To calculate your cup size, subtract your band size from your cup size. Every inch difference is another cup size up e.g. 1 inch equals A, 2 inches equals B, 3 inches equals C, etc.
Will my breast size continue to change post-op?
Women's breasts can naturally swell and feel bigger at different stages of their menstrual cycle and it's important to remember that following breast surgery your breasts can change in size and shape over time due to the drop and fluff process. We know it can be difficult sometimes but try to be patient, as your breasts can take up to a year post-op to fully settle!
Don't forget that sizes can vary in different retailers, so once you have found your new bra size it's best to order a few sizes and styles to you find your perfect fit.
Follow your post-op care plan
It is important to follow your post-operative care advice, as instructed by your surgeon. Most surgeons advise to wear your post-op surgery bra for 6-8 weeks, day and night to support the breasts following surgery and aid with healing. Many patients continue wearing support bras when sleeping in the weeks or months after this initial period and sports bras should always be worn when exercising.
